Members from Street, Glastonbury, Pilton and Wells turned up to support the “Welcome to New Members of the Shepton Mallet Labour Party” coffee morning at the Scout Hall in Shepton Mallet on Saturday. In the last two years, the membership of the Shepton Branch of the party has grown from a dozen members to over 150 (and nearly a 1000 members in the Wells Constituency area). The coffee morning was a chance for members, new and old, to get together and to catch up with what has been happening locally. Amber Gilbert Squires (the new Branch Secretary) said she was immensely pleased with the turnout and the support the Coffee Morning had received from members both in Shepton and from other branches. Among the highlights were some delicious homemade cakes, a raffle and a brief introduction by the Constituency Vice Chair.
